Mandarin Mondays: 下雨 (Rain)

May is usually when the rainy season begins. Right now, many people are hoping that it will begin in earnest soon because we have had a very dry winter (dōng tiān, 冬天) and spring (chūn tiān, 春天). While this made for a very nice mild temperature and climate, the city could use the water. Today was the first rain (xiàyǔ, 下) this May (wǔ yuè, 五月). We'll see if this starts a trend.

  1. We are a family of 7 also living in China! I enjoyed reading about your birthday and commiserating over the pastries and the McDonald's goodness. It really does taste better on this side of the ocean :). I always enjoy meeting other families trying to do life over here.

  2. It has been raining in my neck of the woods for 2 weeks straight now with a couple days of sun in the forecast and then back to rain...we missed april showers and went straight to may downpours. Just came to your site through a simplemom comment. I am your newest follower, I hope you will follow me back!
